TWD launch T1 Audio accessoriesAn affordable wiring, connection and amplifier range has been released by midlands based distributer TWD offering dealers the opportunity to add more potential revenue to each sale and bolt-on ordering of installation accessories when ordering car audio products.
TWD are not only looking to offer dealers a greater range of products from under one roof, but also offer customers a more complete package when buying audio equipment. Whether creating sub, amp and enclosure packages with wiring kits, or just offering more ‘extras’, many distributors aim to offer the dealer more choice when ordering audio. The theory behind the launch of T1 Audio from TWD is to offer a range of wiring kits, accessories and amplifiers to add to existing orders of Crunch, Audiobahn, Hi-Fonics and MB Quart products, to name but a few. Wiring adaptor looms
The T1 Audio range includes ten different harness solutions chosen to make adding aftermarket head units to factory dash apertures easier. This covers: BMW models, BMW 3-Series (2/01 on) and 5-Series (11/00 on), Ford (post ’89), Mazda (post ’89), Mitsubishi, Daihatsu and Toyota, Maverick/Nissan 4x4 and ISO-to-Alpine 16-pin, or ISO-to-Kenwood-16-pin.
Protection
The T1 range covers a number of fusing options. Fuses are available in AGU format (40, 60 and 80A), a 100A mini fuse and ANL fuses rated at 150, 200, 250 and 300A for heavy current drain applications. In-line fuse/distribution blocks use gold-plated contact surfaces and include a two and four-way AGU unit and a pair of waterproof in-line AGU fuse holders for engine bay mounting designed for use with 4/8-gauge cable or 0/2-gauge respectively.
Wiring
To convert two-channel speaker output to RCA there are two options: a simple in-line device or one with level adjustment. For low tuner signal levels, there is an aerial booster which can be added to OE antennas. A ground loop isolator is joined by three Fakra-to-DIN and ISO converters.
To make for easy amp installation, the T1 Audio range includes 1m, 3m and 5m oxygen-free RCA leads as well as splitters. Phono splicer’s and jack plug fly leads are often a useful addition to an installer’s toolbox.
Complete amplifier wiring kits are available for customers or installers. Kit 2 heads the range and is an 8-gauge power kit, with Kit 3 designed for single amps rated up to 1200W, Kit 4 will provide for 2000W dual-amp installs (4-gauge and 8-gauge) and Kit 5 tops the range providing for a single 3600W amp, using 4-gauge cabling.
Installation hardware
To add to the toolbox, T1 accessories include eight radio removal tools covering all of the most popular manufacturer head units and some aftermarket models too.
Other T1 essentials for the workshop include a range of pre-assembled black carpeted sub enclosures for single and dual woofer applications. This offers dealers the opportunity to create amp, sub and enclosure deals including wiring kits for the shop as well as allowing a low cost enclosure to be kept for workshop stock. Single sub enclosures are available in sealed or ported models for 8, 10, 12 or 15in woofers. Double sub applications cover 10, 12 or 15in models, again in ported or sealed variants.
While working in the boot, installers may be interested in the T1 Audio trimming carpet, available in beige, black, blue, dark grey and light grey. Each roll measures 1m x 1.4m.
Amplifiers
There are three budget amps carrying the T1 Audio brand. Looking far from “budget” in style and finish, thanks largely to the classy dark grey finish, they include a pair of two-channel models (LS2000.2 and LS500.2) which sit alongside a four-channel (LS1100.4). The LS500.2 is rated at 2x100W RMS into 2-ohms, while the bigger two-channel model, the LS2000.2 is rated at 2x160W RMS. The LS1100.4 produces 4x200W. These amps would make a great ingredient to a bargain sub and amp package or even a full-range speaker system using the T1 Audio wiring and enclosures previously mentioned.
